Director of Rutgers University’s Discovery Informatics Institute Manish Parashar appointed Director for the National Science Foundation Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure; Delivers keynote at 2018 Internet2 Global Summit. - Earlier this year the National Science Foundation appointed Professor Manish Parashar as the Office Director for the Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC). OAC supports and coordinates the development, acquisition, and provisioning of state-of-the-art cyberinfrastructure resources, tools and services essential to the advancement and transformation of science and engineering. Also, in May of this year, Dr. Parashar delivered the keynote address at the 2018 Internet2 Global Summit in San Diego. His talk “Realizing a Cyberinfrastructure Ecosystem that Transforms Science” was attended by nearly 1000 high-level IT professionals. "NJBIA: Evaluating New Jersey's Cyber Infrastructure for Big Data and Beyond - NJBIA reported that the Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee on September 8 would consider a bill that would encourage improvements in the state's infrastructure for big data and help grow the information technology industry. Specifically, New Jersey would create a cyberinfrastructure strategic plan through a public- private- partnership between the NJ Office of Information Technology and NJ Big Data Alliance and coordinated by the Rutgers Discovery Informatics Institute" (text courtesy of Innovation New Jersey). Trenton, May 23, 2017 - Members of the New Jersey Big Data Alliance shared their expertise as panelists during the NJ Digital Government Summit 2017. The two-day event was designed to spread best practices and spur innovation in the public sector. Read about the event here.
On January 18, 2017 the New Jersey Big Data Alliance announced in a press release that The College of New Jersey and NJEDge.Net have joined the Alliance. Read the full release here. Since then, the NJBDA has also welcomed New Jersey City University, Seton Hall University, and William Paterson University as members.
